Nexon's former Project RX now has an official name: Fareidolia. The character-focused RPG will make its first public playable appearance at Tokyo Game Show 2026 from September 17 to 21, with a new trailer scheduled for the opening day. Fareidolia takes place in Anima City, where players become director of the Anima City Restoration Center while also managing Tasogare Hall and living alongside characters known as Mates.
The premise places everyday interactions, relationships and city restoration alongside more conventional RPG systems. Nexon's Tokyo Game Show booth will recreate elements of Tasogare Hall and introduce characters including Minieh, Ohana and Shami. The project is planned for iOS, Android, PC and consoles. Fareidolia is particularly interesting because it comes from a development environment associated with character-driven mobile games but is attempting a much more elaborate presentation.
Its first hands-on demonstration should reveal whether interactions with the Mates genuinely form the core of play or primarily serve as narrative framing around familiar progression systems.
