Dogpile is now available on iOS and Android after launching on mobile alongside Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 earlier this month. Developed by Studio Folly, Toot Games and Foot, the game combines roguelike deckbuilding with an immediately understandable merging mechanic: place matching dogs together and they become a larger dog. Players then modify individual dogs with Traits, adjust their decks and create increasingly strange scoring combinations across repeated runs.

The concept is particularly well suited to touchscreens because the fundamental interaction requires positioning rather than complicated virtual controls. Dogpile also benefits from the recent popularity of games that take familiar systems and deliberately break their rules through stackable upgrades. Its challenge is maintaining readability once multiple Traits begin interacting.

Successful roguelikes make players feel responsible for discovering powerful combinations rather than leaving them confused about why a run suddenly succeeded. The mobile release gives Dogpile access to an audience well suited to quick repeated sessions and could ultimately become more important than its original PC version.
