Realme P4s 5G turns an 8,000mAh battery into its headline feature

Realme's newly launched P4s 5G shows how rapidly battery capacities are increasing in mainstream Android phones. The Indian-market device combines an 8,000mAh battery with 80W charging, a 144Hz OLED display and MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultra-class hardware. Those specifications would have looked unusually aggressive on a specialist gaming phone only a few years ago.

Improved battery chemistry is now allowing manufacturers to increase capacity without creating devices of tablet-like thickness, and Chinese brands are using that advantage as a highly visible differentiator. For mobile gamers, the combination is particularly attractive because sustained high-refresh gameplay consumes power rapidly. The important question is whether the processor and cooling system can maintain frame rates long enough to make full use of the 144Hz panel.

Realme also faces the wider issue common to specification-driven mid-range phones: software support can matter more over several years than a slightly faster display at launch. Even so, the P4s demonstrates how fiercely competitive India's smartphone market has become.
