HoYoverse is moving beyond its familiar combat-heavy formula with Petit Planet, a new cross-platform life simulation announced around Gamescom and scheduled for a global launch this winter. Pre-registration is open for iOS and Android alongside PC. Instead of sending players through another sprawling action RPG, Petit Planet focuses on creating and nurturing an entire small world.

Players can develop their planet, interact with inhabitants, collect resources and gradually transform their surroundings, giving the game a more relaxed rhythm than Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail or Zenless Zone Zero. The comparison with Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley is obvious, although HoYoverse has the resources to push the concept toward much larger production values and a deeply connected live-service structure.

Mobile could become Petit Planet's natural home because decorating, harvesting and social interaction work particularly well in short sessions. The larger strategic question is monetization. HoYoverse built much of its success around character collection, while life sims traditionally thrive when players feel free to personalize their world without constant pressure. How the company balances those approaches could determine whether Petit Planet reaches beyond its existing audience.
