Roco Kingdom confirms October 27 worldwide mobile release

Tencent has finally dated the global version of Roco Kingdom, with the creature-collecting RPG scheduled to launch internationally on iOS and Android on October 27. The game has already demonstrated its commercial potential in China, where it launched in March and quickly attracted a substantial player base. The worldwide version will introduce a colorful open world populated by creatures that players can discover, collect and develop.

Roco Kingdom enters the international market at a fascinating moment because mobile publishers are clearly betting heavily on creature collection. Aniimo is arriving in September, while Azur Promilia and other projects are pursuing related audiences. Tencent's advantage is that Roco Kingdom is not an untested concept: the Chinese launch has already provided months of behavioural data, balance information and live-service experience. Global success is not guaranteed, however.

Monetization, localization and progression expectations differ substantially between China and Western markets. An October 27 launch gives Tencent enough time to build awareness after Gamescom while avoiding the densest part of September's release calendar. Creature-collection fans are suddenly facing considerably more choice than Pokémon alone.
