Albion Online's Android client is getting Tencent-backed anti-cheat protection

Sandbox Interactive is strengthening Albion Online's Android security through a new partnership involving Tencent Cloud and Anti-Cheat Expert. The companies announced at Gamescom that Albion Online's Android client will integrate ACE Anti-Cheat Standard, with the protected version expected to launch during the third quarter of 2026. Mobile anti-cheat is becoming increasingly important as cross-platform games erase the old distinction between PC and smartphone competitive environments.

Albion's player-driven economy makes cheating particularly damaging because automation, unauthorized tools or exploits can affect not only individual matches but the value of virtual goods across the entire game. Mobile devices also present a complicated security landscape because Android exists across thousands of hardware configurations and can be modified far more extensively than closed console platforms.

ACE says its framework is designed to cover the entire lifecycle of a live-service game rather than simply detecting obvious cheats during play. For legitimate Albion players, the success metric will be straightforward: fewer cheaters without unacceptable battery drain, compatibility problems or false positives.
