Samsung prepares One UI 9 beta expansion toward the Galaxy A56

Samsung appears to be preparing to expand One UI 9 and Android 17 beta testing beyond flagship hardware, with evidence pointing toward the Galaxy A56 as an upcoming participant. Test firmware and associated beta infrastructure have also been spotted for additional Galaxy A-series devices. Bringing public beta software to the mid-range would represent a meaningful shift because Samsung historically concentrates early Android testing on Galaxy S and foldable models.

The Galaxy A series sells in enormous volumes, so broader testing could expose bugs and compatibility problems that flagship-only samples miss. It would also strengthen Samsung's argument that long-term software support is not reserved for premium buyers. Beta availability is not the same as a stable rollout, and owners should avoid installing unfinished software on a primary device unless they are comfortable encountering problems.

Even so, the preparation signals that Android 17 deployment is moving deeper into Samsung's catalogue. Update speed has become a major competitive factor in the mid-range as Xiaomi, Google, Motorola and others extend their own support promises.
