Crystal of Atlan's collaboration with The King of Fighters '98 remains active, bringing Mai Shiranui into the game alongside the new Sugariff branch of the Fighter class. The limited Dancing With Flames challenge offers crossover cosmetics, while a chibi Mai pet and themed clothing extend the event into collection systems. Sugariff may ultimately be the more meaningful addition because it remains part of the game after the collaboration ends.
The class mixes rhythmic movement with punches and kicks, giving existing players another combat style to develop through dedicated growth events. Live-service games frequently use licensed collaborations to generate attention, but relying entirely on borrowed characters can create a cycle where engagement falls whenever no famous guest is present. Crystal of Atlan's approach is smarter when the crossover is paired with permanent mechanical expansion.
The game has previously collaborated with NieR:Automata, demonstrating that partnerships are becoming a regular part of its content strategy. The long-term test is whether its own world remains compelling between these major licensed events.
