Playrix is testing Austin's Odyssey on Google Play in Australia, Canada, India and the United States, putting the long-running Gardenscapes and Homescapes character more directly at the centre of a new project. The game first appeared through Playrix's Max Go test account and uses the broader 'scapes visual language while placing additional emphasis on Austin's comedic adventures.

Turning a recurring helper into the face of a standalone game illustrates how mobile publishers increasingly think in terms of recognizable character ecosystems rather than individual apps. Austin has appeared in advertising and stories for years, giving Playrix a level of familiarity that many new casual games lack. The test markets also provide a broad mix of high-spending and high-volume audiences.

Playrix can compare retention in Canada and the United States with behaviour in India's enormous Android market before deciding how aggressively to scale. The essential challenge will be demonstrating that Odyssey offers enough mechanical distinction from existing Playrix titles to justify another permanent place on players' phones.
