Gangstar Mirage City reaches more players as Gameloft's crime franchise returns at scale

Gangstar Mirage City is now live in selected regions after building more than 30 million pre-registrations, giving Gameloft and Level Infinite one of the biggest active mobile launches entering September. The open-world crime game is rolling out across parts of Southeast Asia, South Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and other territories rather than launching everywhere simultaneously.

Mirage City combines driving, shooting and large-scale urban exploration inside a near-future setting that mixes traditional gangster fiction with more technological styling. The Gangstar franchise has been part of mobile gaming since long before modern smartphones became capable of console-like 3D worlds, making its return particularly notable. The competitive environment is far tougher now.

Garena Free City and other projects are targeting similar audiences, while mainstream players increasingly expect sophisticated open worlds. A regional rollout gives Gameloft time to monitor server load, device performance and mission engagement before deciding how to approach additional markets. Thirty million registrations provide enormous initial reach, but long-term retention will determine whether the franchise has truly returned.
