Meta's experimental Pocket app remains one of the stranger and more potentially disruptive mobile gaming tests of 2026. After earlier availability in Brazil, Pocket has expanded testing to the United States, allowing users to create small interactive experiences from prompts and then share them through a social feed. Meta calls these creations gizmos, and they can combine text, imagery, sound and touch interactions.
The concept effectively treats playable content the way TikTok treats video: something that can be generated quickly, consumed quickly and remixed by others. If the model works, it could dramatically lower the barrier to creating interactive entertainment. It could also flood the platform with low-quality material faster than recommendation systems can sort it. Discovery, moderation and originality will therefore matter as much as generation technology.
Pocket remains experimental rather than a full commercial gaming platform, but Meta's scale gives even a small test strategic significance. The broader mobile industry is watching closely because generative AI may eventually change not only how games are made, but who gets to make them.
