Samsung is expanding its Android 17-based One UI 9 beta programme to additional Galaxy devices during September. The Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 are among the models joining testing after the software debuted on newer hardware. The expansion suggests Samsung is moving closer to a broad stable rollout, although the company has not published a firm release date for every supported device.

One UI has become one of Samsung's most important competitive advantages because many Galaxy features now depend more on software and AI services than annual hardware changes. Wider testing lets Samsung identify problems across different chipsets, display formats and regional configurations before pushing Android 17 to millions of users.

Foldables are particularly useful test cases because multitasking, aspect-ratio changes and continuity between screens create behaviours that conventional slab phones never encounter. Samsung's increasingly broad beta programme also shows how much faster the company now moves on Android upgrades compared with its reputation several years ago.
