Samsung has expanded the One UI 9 Watch beta programme to the Galaxy Watch 7 series, starting in South Korea. The roughly 1.9GB test build is based on Wear OS 7 and follows earlier testing on newer Galaxy Watch hardware. Extending beta software to an older generation matters because wearables traditionally receive less visible update attention than smartphones despite being worn daily for years.
Samsung and Google have increasingly treated Wear OS as a long-term platform rather than a collection of isolated watches, and regular software upgrades are critical to that strategy. One UI 9 Watch is expected to bring interface changes, refinements to health tracking and deeper integration with Samsung's broader Galaxy ecosystem. A beta also gives Samsung time to identify battery drain or sensor regressions before distributing the software globally.
Smartwatch updates are unusually sensitive because even modest changes in background activity can dramatically affect battery endurance. The South Korean rollout is limited for now, but broader availability is expected as Samsung gathers feedback and confirms stability.
