Google is rolling out new conversational voice capabilities called Gmail Live, Docs Live and Keep Live on iOS and Android. The services allow eligible users to interact with Gemini naturally rather than relying entirely on keyboards and conventional search. Gmail Live can answer spoken questions about messages, while Docs Live can help generate and refine text and draw information from services such as Gmail and Drive.

Keep Live works more like a voice-driven scratchpad, letting users capture lists and ideas without typing. Google previewed these features at I/O and is now beginning the practical rollout. Availability depends on subscription tier, with Gmail Live offered to Google AI Plus, Pro and Ultra users and Docs Live and Keep Live available to Pro and Ultra subscribers. The broader significance is Google's determination to make Gemini a layer across applications rather than a separate destination.

Voice assistants historically struggled when users needed to move from simple commands into complex work. These integrations attempt to make conversation an actual application interface rather than merely a way to launch one.
