RugOne is using IFA 2026 to showcase the Xsnap 7 Pro, a rugged smartphone built around an unusually modular camera concept. The handset pairs a 9,300mAh battery with a detachable magnetic action-camera module, effectively combining two devices normally carried separately by hikers, cyclists and outdoor workers. Rugged phones traditionally compete through enormous batteries, reinforced bodies and water resistance, but that recipe can make products feel interchangeable.
A removable camera gives the Xsnap 7 Pro a much clearer identity and allows users to place the imaging module somewhere the main handset cannot conveniently go. The approach also reflects a broader trend at IFA: accessory makers and phone companies are experimenting with modular hardware after years in which smartphone design became increasingly sealed and homogeneous. The engineering challenge is ensuring the connection remains robust enough for real outdoor use.
A clever module is of little value if it disconnects under vibration, becomes difficult to waterproof or compromises image quality compared with a dedicated action camera.
