Moto Watch Ultra puts Motorola back into serious Wear OS competition

Motorola's Moto Watch Ultra is one of IFA 2026's most significant wearable launches because it marks a substantial return to Google's Wear OS ecosystem. The 46mm stainless-steel watch uses Qualcomm's Snapdragon W5 Plus Gen 1 platform, a 1.5-inch OLED display capable of 2,700 nits and a 550mAh battery rated for up to roughly two days when the always-on display is disabled. LTE eSIM connectivity, dual-band GPS, Google Wallet and Wear OS 6 make it a fully independent smartwatch rather than a basic phone accessory.

Motorola has also partnered with Polar for health and fitness analysis, adding recovery, sleep and training metrics backed by an established sports-data company. That partnership may prove more important than raw hardware. Samsung and Google already make capable Wear OS watches; Motorola needs a reason for buyers to choose another device. The Moto Watch Ultra goes on sale September 10 in the United States for $349.99, with broader carrier distribution following later.
