Motorola's latest Razr Brilliant Collection uses 35 individually positioned Swarovski crystals and a prominent 32-facet crystal on the hinge to transform a familiar foldable phone into an overt fashion product. The device uses a Pantone Meteorite finish and a quilted exterior texture, while retaining a 6.9-inch internal OLED display, 3.6-inch external screen and MediaTek Dimensity 7450X platform. Motorola is pricing the US version at $899.99 with availability scheduled for September 10.

The collaboration may appear superficial next to processor or camera upgrades, but foldable phones are reaching a stage where design identity matters increasingly. Clamshell devices already appeal partly because they behave like fashion accessories: they are compact, visible and frequently customized through cases and external-screen themes. Motorola is leaning directly into that behaviour rather than pretending specifications are the only reason people choose hardware.

Luxury collaborations will not appeal to everyone, but they provide one possible path for differentiating foldables now that competitors increasingly offer similar hinge mechanisms, flexible screens and basic capabilities.
