Pure Crime gives Miniclip its own open-world gangster experiment

Miniclip's Derby studio continues testing Pure Crime: Gangster Shooting on iOS and Android in the United Kingdom, Canada and the Philippines. Like Garena Free City, the project reflects growing confidence that mainstream smartphones can now support the kind of urban open-world action previously associated primarily with consoles and PCs. Pure Crime combines vehicles, exploration and shooting inside a large city environment.

Testing in two mature Western markets and one highly mobile-first Southeast Asian market gives Miniclip useful information about both player behaviour and technical scalability. Open-world games are particularly vulnerable to hidden performance problems: memory usage, thermal throttling and battery consumption may matter more than headline graphics once players spend an hour inside the world. Miniclip also has to solve the content-density problem.

A city can be large yet feel empty if meaningful activities are spread too thinly. Pure Crime remains an experiment rather than a guaranteed global release, but the very fact that multiple major mobile publishers are testing similar worlds suggests a broader genre shift is underway.
