Miniclip-owned SYBO is testing Paint Brawl, a colourful arena shooter that has recently been reworked to feature characters from the Subway Surfers universe. The game is currently registering downloads in the United Kingdom through SYBO's test account. Mechanically, Paint Brawl draws obvious inspiration from territory-painting multiplayer shooters, asking players to cover environments with colour while competing against opponents.

The Subway Surfers rebrand is strategically more interesting than the underlying mechanic. Subway Surfers has become one of mobile gaming's most recognizable brands, yet the franchise has traditionally been closely tied to endless running. Moving established characters into entirely different genres could allow SYBO to turn a single evergreen hit into a broader entertainment property. The risk is equally clear: familiar characters cannot compensate for weak multiplayer design.

Paint Brawl will need responsive controls, reliable matchmaking and a strong competitive loop if players are going to treat it as more than a curiosity attached to a famous mobile name.
