HoYoverse is preparing Petit Planet for a winter 2026 release on mobile and PC, giving the Genshin Impact and Honkai publisher an unusually relaxed new direction. Rather than another enormous combat-driven action RPG, Petit Planet is a colourful life simulation built around everyday activities and a deliberately cute presentation. The project is strategically significant because HoYoverse has built its reputation on visually spectacular character-collection games with complex live-service economies.

A life sim can still support long-term progression and character attachment, but player expectations around pacing and monetization are very different. The category also competes for audiences accustomed to Animal Crossing, farming games and cosy indie titles rather than only existing HoYoverse fans. Mobile should be central to Petit Planet's appeal because life sims work naturally in short check-in sessions while still supporting much longer play when players have time.

The game gives HoYoverse a chance to prove its production and retention expertise can travel beyond action-heavy RPGs.
