RugOne has formally launched the Xsnap 7 Pro at IFA 2026, giving today's hardware news one of its most unusual smartphone designs. The rugged handset integrates a magnetically detachable 39-gram action camera capable of recording at up to 2.7K resolution. Instead of carrying a phone and separate action camera, users can remove the module and mount it independently while the main handset remains available for control and communication.
The phone itself uses MediaTek's Dimensity 8400 platform and a battery around 9,000mAh, reinforcing its outdoor positioning. Modular smartphones have repeatedly struggled commercially because removable components can complicate durability and ecosystem support, but a rugged device may be one of the few categories where a detachable camera solves a genuinely obvious problem. Cyclists, hikers and field workers often want both a large-battery phone and a remotely positioned camera.
RugOne now has to prove that the attachment system is robust enough to survive the environments its customers are likely to use it in.
