Miniclip's Derby studio continues regional testing of Pure Crime: Gangster Shooting on iOS and Android in markets including the United Kingdom, Canada and the Philippines. The game combines city exploration, vehicles and third-person shooting in a large urban environment, making it part of the growing wave of mobile titles attempting to deliver console-style open worlds.
Pure Crime's test regions are particularly useful because they combine mature Western smartphone markets with the Philippines' highly mobile-centric player base. That gives Miniclip data on monetisation, device performance and session behaviour across very different audiences. Open-world games create unusual technical pressures on smartphones, including memory usage, battery drain and sustained thermal performance. Players may also tolerate visual compromises more readily than an empty or repetitive city.
Miniclip therefore needs to prove that its map contains enough interesting activity to justify the scale. The company has traditionally been strongest in accessible, session-friendly games, so Pure Crime also represents a test of whether it can successfully operate a substantially larger and more complex persistent experience.
