Xiaomi's 18 Fold reaches its official China launch day today after a prominent IFA 2026 preview. The foldable is particularly important because it is the first Xiaomi smartphone built around the company's new XRING O3 flagship processor. Advance specifications point to a 7.58-inch internal folding display, a 5.38-inch outer screen, LPDDR6 memory on selected configurations and a 6,000mAh battery with 67W wired and 50W wireless charging.

Xiaomi's in-house chip is built on a 3nm process with a 10-core CPU and 16-core GPU architecture, giving the launch broader strategic significance than another foldable refresh. Developing competitive silicon gives Xiaomi more control over performance, AI processing and long-term hardware-software integration while reducing dependence on Qualcomm and MediaTek. The 18 Fold also sits at the centre of Xiaomi's Human × Car × Home strategy, which links smartphones with tablets, vehicles and smart-home products.

Today's launch should determine pricing, configurations and how aggressively Xiaomi intends to expand the device beyond China.
