Moto Watch Ultra keeps Motorola in serious Wear OS competition

Motorola's newly unveiled Moto Watch Ultra continues attracting attention during IFA week ahead of its September 10 retail launch. The smartwatch uses a 46mm stainless-steel case, a 1.5-inch OLED display and Qualcomm's Snapdragon W5 Plus Gen 1 platform running Wear OS 6. LTE, dual-band GPS, Google Wallet, 5ATM water resistance and IP68 protection give it the basic hardware expected from a premium smartwatch.

Motorola's most distinctive move is its continued partnership with Polar, which brings established fitness and recovery algorithms such as Nightly Recharge, Sleep Plus Stages, Activity Score and Smart Calories. The watch also integrates Motorola and Lenovo's Qira AI assistant. Battery life is rated at up to roughly two days with the always-on display disabled. At $349 in the US, Motorola is entering direct competition with established Samsung and Google models rather than trying to undercut them.

Polar's credibility gives the watch a clearer identity than many new Wear OS entrants, but Motorola now needs to prove that software support and ecosystem integration can remain competitive over multiple years.
