RugOne's Xsnap 7 Pro remains one of the most unconventional smartphones shown at IFA 2026. The rugged handset combines a large 9,300mAh battery with a detachable magnetic action-camera module capable of independent recording. Instead of carrying both a smartphone and a GoPro-style camera, users can remove the compact module, mount it separately and continue controlling or monitoring it through the main phone.
The idea makes particular sense for cyclists, hikers, construction workers and other customers already willing to carry a heavier rugged handset. RugOne is effectively using modularity to solve a clear functional problem rather than adding accessories simply for novelty. The challenge is mechanical reliability. Detachable components introduce extra points of failure, and an outdoor-focused device must survive drops, dirt and repeated attachment cycles.
Pricing around $999 also places it firmly in premium territory. Even if the Xsnap 7 Pro remains a niche product, it demonstrates how specialised smartphone makers can still experiment with hardware formats that mainstream manufacturers have largely abandoned.
