TCL's P80 Ultra remains one of IFA 2026's more interesting display experiments because it combines the company's NXTPAPER eye-comfort technology with OLED for the first time. NXTPAPER has traditionally focused on reducing glare and creating a more paper-like viewing experience, while OLED is associated with deep blacks, fast response times and premium contrast.
Bringing the two approaches together could give TCL a meaningful point of differentiation in a smartphone market where most high-end displays already look excellent at first glance. The 6.83-inch panel supports a 120Hz refresh rate, and a dedicated Max Ink Mode simplifies the interface into a monochrome, e-reader-style presentation intended to reduce distraction and extend battery life.
The challenge is ensuring that anti-glare and eye-comfort layers do not compromise colour accuracy or peak brightness during normal use. If TCL gets that balance right, display comfort may become a more persuasive everyday selling point than another marginal improvement in processor benchmarks.
