Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris arrives on iOS and Android today, September 8, bringing Crystal Dynamics' cooperative isometric adventure to smartphones and tablets. The mobile edition preserves the puzzle-heavy action format in which Lara and her companions explore Egyptian ruins, fight supernatural enemies and solve environmental challenges. Crucially, the adaptation retains four-player cooperative play rather than reducing the experience to a simplified single-player mobile spin-off.
The release uses a try-before-you-buy approach, allowing players to sample the game before paying to unlock the complete adventure. That makes Temple of Osiris another significant example of publishers treating modern phones as legitimate destinations for premium catalogue games. Touchscreen controls remain one of the biggest questions for console-originated action titles, but optional controllers increasingly make mobile versions attractive for players who want portable access without buying another handheld.
Its arrival also strengthens a growing mobile library of substantial older PC and console titles being repackaged for current high-performance phones.
