Xiaomi has officially launched the Pad 9 Pro Max in China, making it the company's first tablet powered by its flagship XRing O3 processor. The 13.3-inch device uses a 3.4K display and is positioned as a large-screen productivity machine rather than simply an entertainment tablet. High-end Android tablets increasingly compete with laptops through desktop-style multitasking, keyboards, pens and external-display support, and Xiaomi is pushing directly into that territory.

Using the same internally developed processor family across phones and tablets also gives Xiaomi greater control over optimisation. Apple demonstrated for years how effective vertical integration can be when hardware, operating systems and processors are designed together; Xiaomi is now attempting a similar strategy within its own ecosystem. The tablet's sheer size makes software adaptation particularly important. A 13.

3-inch Android display provides little advantage if applications simply stretch phone interfaces across more space. The Pad 9 Pro Max will therefore be an important test of whether HyperOS can turn increasingly powerful Android tablet hardware into genuinely convincing productivity devices.
