RugOne's Xsnap 7 Pro continues attracting attention as IFA concludes, with new hands-on coverage highlighting a genuinely unusual idea: a rugged Android handset containing a magnetically detachable action camera. The 39-gram camera module can record independently at up to 2.7K resolution and attach to helmets, bicycles or other equipment while the phone remains available as a control surface and viewfinder.
The handset itself combines a 120Hz AMOLED display, Dimensity-class performance, a battery around 9,300mAh and rugged IP68/IP69K protection. Modular smartphones have repeatedly struggled because accessory ecosystems rarely reach sufficient scale, but the Xsnap concept is more focused. Outdoor users already carry both rugged phones and action cameras, so combining them solves an obvious packing problem. Kickstarter activity began this week following IFA exposure.
The decisive questions will be image quality, attachment reliability and whether the detachable module survives the abuse expected from an outdoor-focused product.
