Circular's Ring 3 Pro and Ring 3 Slim remain among IFA 2026's most consequential wearable announcements because they tackle two weaknesses that have limited smart rings: payments and active notifications. The new devices include NFC support for contactless transactions and haptic vibration for alarms, reminders and guided exercises. The Pro model also pushes further into health monitoring with ECG-related capabilities and other cardiovascular metrics.
Historically, rings have been excellent passive sensors but relatively poor interactive devices. Users still needed a watch or phone to receive alerts and pay for purchases. Adding vibration and NFC makes the ring useful while preserving its key advantage: there is still no distracting screen. Circular claims long multi-day battery life, although real-world endurance will depend on how aggressively the active features are used. The broader trend is clear.
Smart rings are evolving from miniature fitness trackers into a distinct computing category that may eventually handle identity, payments, health and subtle notifications without asking users to look at another display.
