Pokémon Champions receives one of its most important competitive updates today as Z Mega Evolutions make their debut across mobile and Nintendo Switch. Regulation Set M-C introduces Mega Lucario Z, Mega Garchomp Z and Mega Absol Z alongside additional Mega forms and a wider roster of battle-eligible Pokémon. New arrivals include competitive favourites such as Rillaboom and Baxcalibur.
The ruleset is scheduled to remain active until December 2, giving competitive players almost three months to explore the new metagame. Pokémon Champions is particularly important on mobile because it strips away much of the exploration and narrative associated with traditional Pokémon RPGs and focuses directly on team building and battles. Cross-platform availability also lets phone users compete within the same overall ecosystem as Switch players.
Adding powerful new Mega forms immediately changes calculations around team composition, counters and held items. For experienced competitive players, today's update effectively starts a new season of experimentation rather than simply adding a few collectible characters.
