Huawei's Mate XT2 is entering its first week after launch as one of the most technologically aggressive smartphones on the market. The device folds twice to transform from a conventional phone into a 10.2-inch tablet-style display. Huawei has redesigned the hinge, improved water resistance and introduced an optional privacy display designed to make the screen harder for nearby people to read. The handset is powered by the new Kirin 9050 Pro processor and runs HarmonyOS 7.

Pricing begins at 19,999 yuan and reaches 24,999 yuan, putting it well beyond normal flagship territory, with Chinese sales scheduled to begin September 12. Huawei remains particularly powerful in China's foldable market, accounting for a reported 68% of shipments during the second quarter. The Mate XT2 therefore is not merely a concept demonstration: Huawei is attempting to make an extremely complicated folding architecture commercially sustainable.
