TECNO also used IFA 2026 to demonstrate a concept smartphone with effectively 0mm visible display borders. Smartphone design has become highly standardised, with most flagships now consisting of a large rectangular display surrounded by extremely narrow bezels. Removing that last visible border creates an immediate visual difference, but the engineering challenges are substantial. Bezels provide physical protection during drops, space for internal structures and a buffer against accidental touches.
A truly borderless commercial device therefore needs sophisticated display packaging and software rejection of unintended input. TECNO has not announced retail plans for the concept, which is sensible given those challenges. Concept hardware nevertheless plays an important role by showing technologies that may gradually enter mainstream products over several generations.
The company's broader IFA lineup also included the Camon Slim 5G, wearables, tablets and laptops, reinforcing TECNO's effort to move beyond its traditional value-focused smartphone identity and compete through visible hardware experimentation.
