Apple Watch Series 12 turns ambient AI into a headline wearable feature

Apple Watch Series 12 is due to reach consumers September 18 with Audio Intelligence emerging as one of its most unusual new capabilities. Powered by the S11 chip, the watch can support features such as Live Rewind, which surfaces a transcript of recently detected audio, and Siri Recap, which can summarise relevant information captured during the day. Apple is also upgrading health sensing, with more frequent heart-rate measurements and additional readiness-style analysis.

The combination demonstrates a broader shift in wearables. Smartwatches began primarily as notification screens and fitness trackers, but manufacturers increasingly want them to function as contextual computers that continuously interpret health, location and environmental signals.
