Melon Sandbox Turns the Chaos Up to Four With New Multiplayer Mode

Melon Sandbox has always understood one important truth: physics sandboxes become considerably funnier the moment something goes horribly wrong. Now developer and publisher PlayDucky is multiplying the potential for disaster with cooperative multiplayer, allowing up to four players to share the same map in real time on Android, iOS and browser.

Players can collaborate on elaborate contraptions, conduct questionable ragdoll experiments or simply discover how quickly four creative minds can turn a perfectly innocent sandbox into digital pandemonium. The multiplayer system extends the game's existing physics-driven playground rather than spinning it off into a separate competitive experience, so objects and player interactions exist within the same shared simulation.

It follows the addition of Lua scripting, which already gave ambitious players considerably more control over their creations. Multiplayer therefore arrives at a particularly good moment: the game's toolset is becoming deeper just as PlayDucky gives players more people to experiment with. For a game whose appeal largely comes from asking 'what happens if I do this?', having three friends nearby to suggest increasingly irresponsible answers seems like a very natural upgrade.
