NAMCO LEGENDARY Mountains Turns Pac-Man-Era Icons Into a Premium Mobile Voxel Puzzle

BeXide has brought NAMCO LEGENDARY Mountains to iOS and Android for $8.99, following the game's June debut on Switch 2, Switch and PC. Rather than emulating Namco's arcade classics directly, LEGENDARY Mountains turns their characters and visual language into a 3D puzzle game built around voxel pieces. Players toss, stack and merge familiar pixel-art icons transformed into chunky three-dimensional objects while chasing high scores.

It is an interesting route for legacy material because Namco's 1980s catalogue has already been compiled, emulated and repackaged countless times. A new puzzle game can trade on that recognition without asking players to buy Pac-Man again merely because this particular menu uses a different border. The $8.99 premium price is equally welcome for anyone exhausted by mobile puzzle games whose actual puzzle is determining which currency purchases another currency.

BeXide is offering a straightforward paid game, and the previous console/PC versions provide useful evidence that this is a proper multiplatform release rather than a quickly assembled nostalgia app. Mobile remains an excellent home for tactile puzzle design, and Namco's pixel icons remain among gaming's most legible pieces of visual shorthand. Turning them into stackable voxels feels oddly inevitable in retrospect.
