Infinix GT NX Controller and Station Try to Turn Your Phone Into a Proper Gaming Rig

Infinix is expanding its GT gaming ecosystem with two unusually ambitious mobile accessories: the GT NX Controller and GT NX Station. The controller clamps around a smartphone and includes what Infinix describes as a pixel-level FPS precision touchpad, low-latency direct connectivity, tactical haptic feedback, laser-textured grips and more than 22 hours of battery life. The GT NX Station is the more interesting half of the equation.

It combines a multi-port dock with TEC active cooling and supports HDMI output, wired Ethernet, USB peripherals, audio, microSD and USB-C power. Mirror and extended-display modes allow a compatible phone to become something closer to a miniature desktop gaming system. The idea addresses several weaknesses of serious phone gaming at once: heat, touch controls, battery life, networking and external displays.

Compatibility outside Infinix's own GT phones may vary, so this is not yet the universal mobile dock of everyone's dreams. Still, mobile hardware is becoming increasingly unwilling to remain merely mobile, which is rather entertaining.
