Pokémon GO turns up the temperature today with Gigantamax Cinderace Max Battle Day, running from 2pm to 5pm local time worldwide. Six-star Max Battles feature Gigantamax Cinderace, while Shiny Gigantamax Cinderace becomes obtainable in Pokémon GO for the first time. Niantic has stacked the event with the usual incentives to persuade players that staying on the sofa would represent a serious tactical error.
Every Power Spot hosts Gigantamax Battles during the window, additional Power Spots appear, locations refresh more frequently and players receive eight times the normal Max Particles from Power Spots. The daily Max Particle collection limit rises to 1,600, while players can make up to three Special Trades. Supporting bonuses begin earlier in the day, including double Max Particles from exploring and one-quarter of the normal walking distance required to receive them. A $4.
99 Timed Research ticket offers a Max Mushroom, 25,000 XP, 6,400 Max Particles and double XP from Max Battles. Pokémon GO is now ten years old, yet it remains remarkably effective at turning a Saturday afternoon into organised outdoor creature combat.
