Key takeaways
- Harvest Festival: Taken Over ends at 8pm local time tonight across Pokémon GO.
- Players must locate Giovanni at PokéStops via Super Rocket Radar to rescue Shadow Zekrom.
- Final window to use Charged TMs to remove Frustration from Shadow Pokémon during the event.
Pokémon GO is conducting two separate countdowns today because Harvest Festival: Taken Over also ends at 8pm local time. The Team GO Rocket event has increased Rocket appearances at PokéStops and in balloons, allowed Charged TMs to remove Frustration from Shadow Pokémon and introduced new Shadow species including Wimpod, Fomantis and Sandygast. Shiny Shroodle also made its Pokémon GO debut through Eggs, while Shiny Slugma received an increased encounter chance. The biggest prize is Shadow Zekrom.
Progressing through the Harvest Festival GO Pass awards a Super Rocket Radar, allowing trainers to hunt Giovanni and rescue the legendary Pokémon. There is an important wrinkle: Giovanni can only be located at PokéStops for this encounter, so simply waiting for the world's most persistent middle manager of villainy to arrive by balloon will not do. GO Pass rewards remain claimable through October 7, but today's event mechanics end at 8pm.
It is an unusually busy final Monday for Pokémon GO players, who must apparently harvest apples, defeat an international criminal organisation and catch genetically improbable wildlife before dinner.
