Auroch Digital has dated Warhammer Survivors for November 10, and importantly the newly confirmed launch includes iOS and Android alongside PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and both generations of Nintendo Switch. The £6.39/$7.99/€7.49 roguelite brings together Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer: Age of Sigmar characters inside the increasingly crowded 'survivors' formula: one hero, an unreasonable number of enemies and enough projectiles to make the screen resemble an exploding spreadsheet.
There is some genuine pedigree behind the idea. Auroch made Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun and is developing Survivors in partnership with poncle, creator of Vampire Survivors, rather than merely borrowing the genre's homework and changing the font. Players collect and evolve familiar weapons while fighting enormous enemy swarms drawn from both Warhammer universes.
The mobile release is particularly sensible because Vampire Survivors demonstrated how naturally this kind of short-session, escalating roguelite works on phones. The real challenge will be retaining Warhammer's personality rather than simply putting Space Marines into somebody else's template. At eight dollars, however, it is refreshingly straightforward compared with the usual mobile proposition involving seventeen currencies and a £99.99 bag of imaginary gems.
