Key takeaways

  • Yveltal is the featured five-star boss for Wednesday Raid Hour tonight from 6pm to 7pm local time.
  • In-person raids award a bonus Rare Candy XL during the active Twilight Trails season.
  • Starts an October legendary sequence followed by Dialga, Palkia, and Origin Forme Giratina.

Pokémon GO has another appointment today: Yveltal becomes the featured five-star Raid Hour boss from 6pm to 7pm local time on October 7. The Dark/Flying Legendary is already entering five-star raids today and remains in the rotation through October 13, with the usual possibility of encountering its Shiny form.

During Raid Hour, eligible Gyms produce substantially more Yveltal raids, creating the familiar Wednesday-evening spectacle of groups moving between virtual monsters while occasionally remembering to look before crossing the road. The current Twilight Trails season also awards a Rare Candy XL for completing an in-person raid on Wednesday, adding a useful incentive beyond another attempt at good IVs or the shiny hunt.

Yveltal's return begins a heavyweight October sequence: Dialga is scheduled for the October 14 Raid Hour, Palkia for October 21 and Origin Forme Giratina for October 28. Today's story is therefore less a new feature than the start of a particularly strong month of legendary raiding. Niantic has essentially scheduled four consecutive Wednesdays on which somebody in your raid group will insist that one more attempt is definitely reasonable.
