Key takeaways

  • RedMagic 12 Pro+ launches in China on October 15 with three transparent-inspired finishes.
  • Eliminates camera bump wobble with completely flush rear camera lenses and 0.96mm bezels.
  • Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 with active liquid/air cooling.

RedMagic has revealed the full design of its upcoming RedMagic 12 Pro+, scheduled for launch in China on October 15. The new gaming flagship will arrive in three transparent-inspired finishes: Transparent Dark Night, Transparent Silver Wing and Transparent Ice Blue. The most noticeable design change is a completely flush rear camera arrangement, eliminating the protruding camera island found on many modern smartphones.

That might sound like a minor cosmetic improvement, but anyone who has tried playing a demanding game with a phone resting on a table will appreciate hardware that does not wobble like a poorly constructed restaurant chair. RedMagic is also continuing its uninterrupted-display approach with a ninth-generation under-screen selfie camera and bezels reportedly reduced to just 0.96mm.

Performance comes from Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 platform, supported by a cooling arrangement combining liquid and air-based systems. The transparent rear design exposes parts of the cooling hardware, maintaining the brand's enthusiasm for making smartphones resemble miniature science-fiction reactors. Early benchmark results have attracted attention, although sustained gaming performance will require independent testing.

Reports suggest an 8,400mAh battery and extremely fast charging, but those figures remain unconfirmed and should not be treated as final specifications. Chinese reservations are already open, while international pricing and availability have not been announced. For dedicated mobile gamers, the interesting question is whether RedMagic can deliver improved comfort and sustained performance without turning its latest flagship into a portable radiator.
