Key takeaways

  • RedMagic 12 Pro+ introduces dual-ring liquid cooling with an active micro-pump.
  • Micro-pump operating pressure upgraded from 100kPa to 130kPa for faster circulation.
  • Features transparent rear panel with visible illuminated RGB coolant channels.

RedMagic has revealed new details about the cooling system inside its upcoming 12 Pro+, and the company appears determined to make smartphone thermal management look like something stolen from a futuristic spacecraft. The gaming flagship will feature an upgraded dual-ring liquid-cooling arrangement with visible RGB lighting, ahead of its October 15 launch in China. Unlike ordinary vapour-chamber systems, RedMagic's design actively circulates coolant through internal channels using a miniature pump.

One cooling path runs across the main chipset while another covers the battery, before both rejoin and transfer heat towards the airflow system. The company says the cooling channels are larger than those in the previous generation and that its redesigned dual-crystal micro-pump increases operating pressure from 100kPa to 130kPa. A specially designed light guide allows RGB illumination to follow the visible coolant pathway beneath the transparent rear panel.

The handset also uses Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 platform and features slimmer display bezels measuring approximately 0.96mm. The important question is whether the engineering delivers meaningful improvements during extended gaming sessions. A phone maintaining high frame rates after forty minutes is considerably more useful than one achieving spectacular benchmark results for thirty seconds.

RedMagic's latest design certainly looks impressive, but independent thermal testing will determine whether the additional plumbing earns its place. The RGB lighting, meanwhile, guarantees that even the cooling system can now demand attention.
