Genius Sonority has announced that The New Denpa Men will end its online service on December 7, 2026, bringing another relatively short-lived mobile experiment to an unfortunate conclusion. The free-to-play creature-collecting RPG arrived on iOS and Android in March 2025, building on a franchise originally associated with Nintendo's handheld systems.
Its unusual premise involves discovering tiny antenna-bearing characters through augmented-reality mechanics before assembling teams and sending them into dungeon adventures. The concept seemed particularly appropriate for smartphones, where cameras and location-aware interactions could naturally support the creature-collecting experience. Unfortunately, the mobile service has not achieved the longevity necessary to continue operating. Sales of paid Jewels and other premium packages have already stopped.
Players holding unused paid Jewels will be eligible for refunds under Japan's Payment Services Act, with detailed procedures scheduled to be published after the service ends. Importantly, players should preserve their Support IDs, which remain accessible through the title screen until March 31, 2027. Genius Sonority has also advised users not to delete the application or transfer it to another device before completing any applicable refund process.
The shutdown highlights a familiar problem within mobile gaming: unusual and creative concepts can struggle to survive in a market increasingly dominated by established franchises and enormous marketing budgets. Discovering tiny people floating invisibly through radio waves is a wonderfully strange idea for a game. Unfortunately, discovering a sustainable business model appears to have been considerably more difficult.
