  • Features the Ribbon Drum combat style and three challenging new world bosses.

NetEase and Everstone Studios have revealed further details about the next major expansion for Where Winds Meet, with the Qingzhou region scheduled to arrive on October 15. The new area transports players to a coastal environment inspired by eastern China, introducing dramatic landscapes, additional martial-arts techniques, new enemies and further opportunities for exploration.

Qingzhou provides a visual contrast to the forests, grasslands and desert environments already available in the expansive Wuxia-inspired action RPG. The update also introduces the Inkbound Order, an unusual martial-arts organisation that places considerable emphasis on intellectual competition. Players will be able to participate in Duel of Wits, a card-based competitive mode that allows opponents to challenge one another without relying entirely on conventional combat techniques.

Those who prefer more physical confrontation can experiment with the Ribbon Drum fighting style, which combines scarf-based attacks with flowing movements inspired by traditional performance. Three additional world bosses provide further challenges for experienced players. The Isle of Penglai is scheduled to become accessible on October 29, extending the expansion's content beyond its initial release.

Where Winds Meet continues to demonstrate how large-scale action RPGs can maintain player interest through substantial regional additions rather than relying exclusively on character recruitment. The new coastal environment should provide another opportunity to explore the game's distinctive interpretation of historical Chinese landscapes.

Of course, introducing intellectual duels raises an intriguing possibility: players may finally encounter an opponent who defeats them through superior arguments rather than an enormous sword.
