Capcom has announced that Monster Hunter Puzzles: Felyne Isles will permanently end its online service on January 14, 2027, bringing another mobile spin-off of a major gaming franchise to an unfortunate conclusion. The company confirmed the decision on October 19, establishing an official shutdown time of 11am Japanese Standard Time. Originally launched on June 27, 2024, Felyne Isles attempted to combine the colourful world of Monster Hunter with accessible match-three puzzle mechanics.

Instead of spending hours tracking enormous monsters through complicated environments, players helped adorable Felyne characters rebuild their island home by completing puzzles and collecting resources. The concept was certainly appealing, particularly for players who enjoyed the franchise's characters but preferred something considerably less demanding than hunting a Rathalos.

Unfortunately, the mobile market is exceptionally competitive, and even recognisable intellectual property does not guarantee commercial longevity. The game will have operated for approximately two years and seven months when its servers close. Capcom has not provided detailed commercial reasons for the decision in the announcement. Players should therefore avoid assuming that particular revenue figures or development problems caused the shutdown.

The announcement also raises the familiar question of mobile game preservation. When an online game disappears, players can lose access to their collections, progression and purchased content regardless of how much time they have invested. Existing players should check official notices for information concerning purchases, remaining events and any applicable refunds.

The Monster Hunter franchise itself remains very much alive, but this particular collection of puzzle-solving cats is preparing for its final adventure.
