QualiArts and Cover have announced a substantial new event for hololive Dreams, the official mobile game built around the popular hololive virtual entertainment franchise. The event, titled Overflowing Light and Seaside Dress Code, begins on October 19 at 8pm Japanese time and continues until October 27. Four performers take centre stage: Tokoyami Towa, Kaela Kovalskia, Shishiro Botan and Koseki Bijou. Each receives a dedicated chapter featuring short stories, event challenges and ranking opportunities.

Players participate in rhythm-game performances and mini-games to collect event points and badges, which can unlock additional story content and exchangeable rewards. The event also introduces four original solo songs, each accompanied by a specially produced music video. Tokoyami Towa's Shallow Shadow arrives first, followed by Kaela Kovalskia's Forge My Soul on October 21, Shishiro Botan's Amaryllis on October 23 and Koseki Bijou's CORE//UNBREAKABLE on October 25.

A separate limited-time recruitment campaign introduces new five-star versions of the four performers wearing seaside-themed outfits. Collecting these characters also unlocks corresponding costumes for different areas of the game. The recruitment campaign runs until October 29. The event demonstrates how virtual performers can extend their entertainment activities beyond conventional livestreams and music releases.

By incorporating original songs directly into gameplay, hololive Dreams creates additional reasons for fans to engage with their favourite performers. It also gives the developer opportunities to combine music, character collection and competitive progression. Apparently even virtual entertainers need a seaside holiday, although theirs involves considerably more organised ranking competitions than most people would consider relaxing.
