Independent developer BOX has announced that JockeyBox will launch on the Apple App Store on November 7, 2026, introducing an unusually detailed horse-racing simulation for iPhone and iPad. The announcement was published on October 19 and confirms an introductory price of 980 yen in Japan, compared with a planned standard price of 1500 yen. Players begin their careers as inexperienced jockeys, accepting assignments from trainers and horse owners while attempting to establish themselves within the racing industry.

Unlike games that treat horse racing as a simple exercise in repeatedly pressing an acceleration button, JockeyBox concentrates on tactical decisions. Players must manage their starts, maintain suitable positions during races and determine when to encourage their horses to accelerate. The game even limits whip usage to seven occasions per race, encouraging careful management rather than constant aggression.

Progression includes opportunities to become an independent jockey, negotiate with agents and develop relationships with racing professionals. The simulation features fifteen racecourses, twenty-four original top-level races, more than seven hundred racing-industry characters and over 7500 horses. Additional systems allow players to manage retired horses and develop breeding programmes for future generations.

JockeyBox supports iCloud synchronisation across compatible Apple devices and offers Japanese and English language options. A TestFlight beta programme is available before launch. The combination of tactical racing and long-term career management could appeal to players seeking a more substantial sports simulation. Apparently becoming a successful jockey involves considerably more than convincing a horse to run faster.
