Granblue Fantasy is preparing to expand beyond smartphones with a new collaboration involving seven Japanese bathing and spa facilities. The event, announced on October 19, is titled Granblue Fantasy: All-Sky Hot Spring Journey and will run from October 29 through December 13. Participating venues include locations in Sendai, Utsunomiya, Narita, Saitama, Tokyo, Kobe and Kumamoto.
Visitors will be able to purchase special participation tickets providing access to limited-edition admission benefits and food-related rewards. The collaboration also introduces themed menus inspired by Granblue Fantasy characters, with selected purchases providing collectible coasters. Additional merchandise featuring newly commissioned illustrations will be available at participating facilities.
Customers spending at least 2000 yen in a single merchandise transaction will receive a randomly selected illustration card, subject to the campaign's conditions. The promotion demonstrates how Japanese mobile franchises increasingly extend their commercial activities into physical experiences. Rather than relying exclusively on digital character recruitment, publishers can create opportunities for fans to interact with their favourite properties through restaurants, merchandise and themed venues.
Such collaborations can generate licensing revenue while maintaining audience interest between major game updates. However, the spa promotion is a physical event rather than a new in-game feature, and international players should not assume that the rewards can be obtained remotely. The collaboration is particularly unusual because it combines a fantasy adventure franchise with the relaxing atmosphere of Japanese bathing culture.
Apparently even experienced adventurers occasionally need to put down their weapons and spend an afternoon in a hot spring.
