Key takeaways

  • Two Umamusume live concerts scheduled for October 22 and 23 at LA's Peacock Theater were cancelled due to US visa complications.
  • Cygames is issuing full automatic refunds for both physical admission and online live streaming passes.
  • Subsequent world tour stops in London, Seoul, and Yokohama remain on schedule pending confirmed dates.

Cygames has cancelled two scheduled Los Angeles performances associated with Umamusume: Pretty Derby after the participating Japanese voice actresses were unable to obtain the necessary US visas. The concerts were planned for October 22 and 23 at the Peacock Theater as part of the franchise's seventh major live-event programme. According to the company, organisers had spent considerable time attempting to secure the required documentation but ultimately concluded that the performances could not proceed.

Both physical admission tickets and streaming tickets will be refunded. The cancellation is particularly disappointing because Umamusume has developed a substantial international audience through its combination of mobile gaming, animation and live musical performances. The franchise's voice actresses frequently perform songs associated with their characters, creating a direct connection between the mobile game and its wider entertainment activities.

Replacing the performers at short notice would therefore have been considerably more complicated than arranging alternative musicians. Cygames has indicated that it is considering additional measures for fans who had planned to attend the concerts in person. Further information will be provided through the official event channels. Other planned world-tour destinations include London, Seoul and Yokohama, although dates have not yet been announced.

The situation illustrates how international entertainment expansion can encounter logistical obstacles unrelated to audience demand or commercial viability. For disappointed fans, the refunds provide some compensation, but they cannot replace the experience itself. Apparently even fictional racing superstars occasionally discover that international travel involves considerably more paperwork than running.
